Message	But a lifter is a 'tick' sound, not a knock. A knock will have a lower pitch sound and will be louder from under the vehicle. If it's a lifer it will be louder from the top of the engine, and will likely louder from one side of the engine than the other. I believe Z1 sells a additive or oil that's proven to help solve noisy lifters. Go check out their site.
